Luxury villa & superyacht certification: your questions answered

Understand the assessment, distinction and service improvement pathways before preparing your enquiry.

What is PALACE STATUS?

PALACE STATUS is an assessment-led distinction for exceptional luxury villas. PALACE@sea is its corresponding superyacht pathway. Founded by Gianni Angelini, the organisation assesses design, service, guest experience and sustainable practices. An award requires an application, assessment findings and a separate commission decision.

How does luxury villa certification work?

Start with a villa enquiry and an eligibility review. Prepare the application and supporting information about the property and its operations. An on-site assessment informs the commission’s decision. Confirm the applicable criteria, visit arrangements, fees and expenses in writing before committing.

What is PALACE@sea superyacht certification?

PALACE@sea assesses the guest experience of private and charter superyachts. Its criteria consider the yacht’s character, interior and exterior design, service on board, cuisine, crew practices and sustainable development. An on-board assessment and commission review form part of the distinction pathway.

Which criteria are used for villas and yachts?

The published criteria examine character, design, service consistency, cuisine, team practices, sustainable development and relevant economic indicators. Villas and yachts have separate criteria and application documents. Confirm the requirements applicable to your property rather than treating the two pathways as interchangeable.

Can we improve service without applying for a distinction?

Yes. An initial service diagnostic is a separately scoped advisory service. It reviews strengths and areas for improvement and provides a personalised action plan. Owners, captains and managers can discuss their objectives before deciding whether to pursue a distinction.

Does training or coaching guarantee certification?

No. Training and coaching are optional services, separate from the award decision. Purchasing them does not guarantee a distinction. The commission reviews the application and assessment findings before deciding on an award.

Commission and assessment method

How much does an assessment cost and how long does it take?

Request a written proposal for your villa or yacht. Confirm the deliverables, visit duration, team involvement, assessment fees, travel expenses and confidentiality before booking. Published documents are not fully aligned on all arrangements; an enquiry establishes which terms apply to your project.

How can a broker or owner verify a current distinction?

Contact PALACE STATUS with the property or yacht name and ask for confirmation of the current distinction, its scope and validity. The published Villa del Mare and M/Y Sunrays articles are historical references. An archive article alone does not establish current certification status.

Is the supplier programme the same as a villa or yacht distinction?

No. Supplier enquiries and introductions have a separate programme and scope. Review the supplier information and confirm current participation directly before describing a supplier as certified. A supplier introduction does not establish a villa or yacht’s distinction.
