PALACE STATUS · Preparation guide

A clear brief for your property.

Use this checklist to prepare a conversation with your owner or team. It is an enquiry guide, not an application contract or a replacement for the label regulations.

Start an enquiry

Your starting point

  • Objective: explore eligibility, identify service improvements, prepare the team, or verify a current distinction.
  • Property: villa or yacht, broad location and type of use.
  • Contact: who represents the property and who can agree the scope?
  • Timing: preferred period, guest commitments and any operational restrictions.

For owners, captains and managers

Agree which questions would make the work useful: consistency of service, guest experience, team practices, cuisine or preparation for assessment. Identify who needs to participate and how the work can fit around operations.

Before booking any work

  • A written scope distinguishing advisory work from the award assessment.
  • Named participants, roles, relevant experience and conflict-of-interest arrangements.
  • Deliverables, visit duration, timing and the team’s expected involvement.
  • Fees, taxes, travel, accommodation and payment terms.
  • Confidentiality, data handling and permission for any public reference.
  • For a distinction: applicable criteria, decision process, validity and renewal rules.

If a full application is needed

Use the latest two completed reporting years and identify each period explicitly. Gather evidence of relevant service practices, improvements and investments only after the application requirements have been confirmed.

Existing PDFs contain historical wording and some differing eligibility requirements. Consult the villa guide or yacht guide before using them.

For brokers and advisers

When checking a distinction, identify the property and request confirmation of the award scope, dates and conditions. An archive article does not establish a current certification or a guarantee of future guest experience.
